Dr Joel Lisk is a Lecturer in Space Law in the College of Business, Government and Law at Flinders University. Joel researches the laws applicable to private and commercial activities in new operating domains with a particular focus on the use of outer space. Joel regularly presents on regulatory design and implementation of frameworks for space activities and has published technical and broad-audience commentaries on Australian and foreign domestic space law issues.

Joel is a qualified lawyer, having previously worked at a national law firm specialising in compliance and advisory work across areas including consumer and competition law, data protection, not-for-profits, and complex regulatory regimes. Joel continues to work as a sole practitioner, providing advice across a range of matters including satellite and payload manufacturing, corporate and charity structuring, and regulatory compliance.

Joel is the Chair of the Law Society of South Australia’s Space Law Select Committee and is a Research Affiliate of the Australian Centre for Space Governance.
