Energy & Resources Law Association was founded by a group of lawyers passionate to bring professionals working across the energy and resources space together; to learn from one another, share experiences and exchange information.
Now running for over 45 years and with over 1,000 current members, it’s become the peak industry body, providing a forum to network, discuss, debate and have access to quality education and development through:
- Energy & Resources Law’s world-class annual conference
- Face-to-face individually hosted local events
- A series of monthly, quarterly and annual webinars
- The Australian Resources & Energy Law Journal (ARELJ)
- Our example legal documents referenced by practising energy and resources professionals
Energy & Resources Law has become the professional, thriving organisation it is today thanks to the dedication of not only its four founders, Michael Crommelin AO, Bill Leslie, Doug Williamson RFD QC and Robin Chambers and hundreds of other generous contributors.

We don’t undertake lobbying or advocacy, though we do contribute, at both national and state levels, to reviews of legislation and regulations, as well as government guidelines and practice notes.
We have local committees in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. Each of these committees hosts educational seminars and workshops throughout the year, with Queensland and Western Australia also hosting one-day conferences.
